Knysna lagoon railway bridge. The 1–metre wide narrow gauge line with its 2.5 km-long Lagoon crossing were opened in 1928, and, together with their famous steam train, the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe, served the people of Knysna, Sedgefield, and Wilderness until the disastrous floods of 2006 closed the whole lot down (temporarily? permanently? nobody seems to know for sure, although, to the delight of steam enthusiasts, the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe still runs – albeit on a limited schedule – on the George-Mossel Bay line)
